For the last three years, we’ve been working with TokBox to build Interactive Broadcast Solution, a broadcasting application that allows you to create events and to broadcast them live to a large audience!
Interactive Broadcast Solution v2.0 is now open source. This means it’s public and anyone can clone the repository, test the app, and contribute with the project by doing pull requests like any other open source project.
Using the OpenTok API, IBS connects presenters, guests, and viewers via real-time video and voice communication. With the ability to speak directly to the presenter and guest on stage, your viewers will feel like they are truly part of your events.
IBS has been used by Fox Sports, MLB, and NHL for weekly shows and athlete interviews. Fans participate by asking questions live either (1) from any of the most commonly used browsers on their computer or laptop, without requiring any software downloads or plug-ins, or (2) from a native mobile app for both Android and iOS using their smartphone or tablet. Interactive Broadcast Solution can support 3,000 real-time connections, and you can increase the number of supported viewers considerably by transmitting the event via HLS feeds and RTMP.

IBS can be embedded in a webpage with a few lines of code, making it easy to customize its look and feel. It’s compatible with any website and CMS framework, including WordPress. IBS also has a library for iOS and Android that can be integrated into your native mobile application.
Multi-tenancy allows you to have multiple administrators, each with their own credentials and with access to their own events. This allows you to run several simultaneous events controlled by different backstage producers.
