# Alberto Gonzalez to Speak at ClueCon 2023

Our CTO, Alberto Gonzalez, will be a speaker at [ClueCon](https://www.cluecon.com/) 2023, an annual technology conference hosted by the team behind the [FreeSWITCH](https://signalwire.com/freeswitch) open source project. This year’s ClueCon Conference will be held August 14-17, 2023 at the [Drake Hotel](https://www.thedrakehotel.com/) along the Magnificent Mile in downtown Chicago.

ClueCon’s primary focus is to gather various open source projects related to voice over IP, open source software and hardware, telecommunications, WebRTC, and IoT — think FreeSWITCH, [Kamailio](https://www.kamailio.org/), [Asterisk](https://www.asterisk.org/), [OpenSIPS](https://opensips.org/), [FusionPBX](https://www.fusionpbx.com/), [Janus](https://janus.conf.meetecho.com/), [HOMER](https://sipcapture.org/), and more. The event starts with Coder Games, followed by three days of presentations by technology leaders from around the world covering all aspects of WebRTC, IoT, and Telephony.

## Breaking Down Barriers: Bridging WebRTC with SIP

Alberto’s presentation will focus on bridging [WebRTC](https://webrtc.ventures/2021/01/what-is-webrtc/), which enables real-time communication through the web, and SIP, a protocol commonly used for initiating and maintaining real-time communication sessions, particularly in telephony networks.

Bridging WebRTC with SIP is essential in many industries, such as remote healthcare, education, and customer support, where current modern video solutions must communicate with telephony infrastructure at scale. The integration of WebRTC-based video conferencing with legacy SIP-based systems enables seamless communication across platforms and devices.

Alberto will talk about lessons learned from our work at [WebRTC.ventures](http://webrtc.ventures) and will explore different approaches to bridging WebRTC and SIP, discussing their advantages and disadvantages.
